"No one holds a candle to us when it comes to roof inspections , roof certifications or roof repair."

Our original roofing contractor license number since 1991 is:  628619

Before you hire ANYONE, you should go to the California State License Board website and check the status of their license! Some roofing contractors will go through 4 or 5 licenses, I don't see how, but they do. There are lots of high quality roofing companies out there and some bad ones as well.

When it comes to repairing your roof, NO ONE can touch Ron Williams "Roof Doctor's Roofing Company".  We repair lots of Shake roofs, we recently got called out to do repairs on a shake roof that had just been "repaired" by a roofing company the previous year. When we arrived it was obvious why the repairs had failed. Below left are the "shims" the Roofing Contractor had used.

certainteed shingles To save money and time, the roofing contractor takes regular shims and splits them into little slivers. Then because they are so small, as soon as the shims dry a little they shrink and fall out. To an experienced and ethical roofing contractor, these shims are a joke, and these consumers and homeowners had been ripped off.  Below right are our minimum width shims. These two were sold as the same thing, but as you can see it's not even close.

Composition Shingle LogoIf you have had a shake roof repair done, do yourself a favor and check the size of the shims used. Its easy, mathematically it is impossible to have 1-1/2" coverage on both sides if the shim is less than 3" wide.

Our methods for tile roof repair are equally superior.

Unfortunately for consumers, roof repair work is sorely lacking in regulatory standards and consumers are left at the mercy of the roofing contractor or repair person's ethics and experience (or lack of) .

Absolutely there are lots of top notch roofing contractors in the area. We have also found that there are roofing contractors and repair personnel that represent themselves as experienced, without even being aware of basic Roofing Industry Standards and have no or very limited experience in actual roof installation. To be a provider of a roof inspection, roof certification  or new roof without meaningful credentials is in my opinion unfair to consumers.

A good example would be the shims in the picture above left. They are too small to comply with minimum coverage requirements set forth by The Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau.  (See line 4 - Shakes shall be laid with a side lap of not less than 1 1/2" between joints in adjacent courses). This is a fundamental practice, and would be second nature to any experienced and ethical roofing company and all of its workers, who would be trained in the installation of shake roofing, shingle roofing and tile roofing at least.

The shims themselves are not as big as the side lap requirement.

At Ron William's Roof Doctor, we throw that size material in the trash.

Having served as a  roof installer for over 20 years, a roofing technical consultant, an expert witness, quality control manager for several large firms and a 20+ year Roofing Contractor (I know its allot of hats but if you're in the business this long without different areas of experience you're not doing anythingRon Williams is a uniquely qualified roof inspector, and he will personally do your inspection.

Coming from a family of roofers, with two brothers, one a Sacramento roofing contractor, one a San Jose roofer, his father, and uncle all roofing contractors, Ron has developed a broad spectrum of roofing experience. The Roof Doctor has the knowledge to diagnose those tricky problems and get the job done right the first time.

"Ron Williams at Roof Doctor is the most knowledgeable roofing expert I have met in my twenty years of design and construction management. His trained eye and experience were absolutely invaluable to me when I managed the reroof of three schools during the summer of 2005. Since then I have relied on Ron's advice for troubleshooting and managing a variety of roofing projects."
